What  We  Believe

Here at Gum Branch Baptist Church,

we exist to see souls saved and Saints edified.

This is accomplished by the preaching and teaching of God’s Word.

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first,

and also to the Greek.”

We believe that all of us have sinned against God who is holy, righteous, and just. We all deserve to be eternally punished for our sins. Because of God's great love and abundant grace, He made a way for us to be reconciled. We are reconciled to God by the blood of His Son Jesus. Jesus is the propitiation for our sins. He is not the propitiation for our sins only, but for the sins of the whole world. Jesus, on the cross, satisfied God's holy wrath for our sins. God was satisfied with the payment made by Jesus's shed blood on the cross for our sins (propitiation). We are saved when we place our faith and trust in His finished work He accomplished for us on the cross. He resurrected the third day, and when we trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we too will be resurrected and live with Him eternally.

The Gospel that saves:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4  “1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day

according to the scriptures:”

Acts 26:18 “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

The Gospel that saves:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4  “1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day

according to the scriptures:”

We preach the Bible dispensational. All Scripture is for us, but not all Scripture is to us. We preach the entire Bible, the whole council of God, but while doing this, we ask, “What is God doing in the church today.” Today, we are not under any covenants, not under the law, but under grace.

Ephesians 3:2 “If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:”

The times in the Bible are either prophecy or mystery, law or grace. Today, we are living in the time of mystery (not prophecy), and grace (not law). Mystery, the body of Christ, which is the church, was never prophesied about in the Old Testament.

Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

Ephesians 3:3-5  "3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles

and prophets by the Spirit;

We would love for you to come learn and grow with us.
